Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze (1975) [11510] wow, camp galore.

you get a real strong feeling of the original Batman TV series with this film.
also lots of shots with the Doc Savage Logo on belt buckle, ski mobile, airplane etc.
this was due to the fact that they were trying to get a toy license for the film from the company MEGO who was famous for
making the 70s Worlds Greatest Super Hero 8 inch figures.

i've been reading some of the books and they are pretty campy also.
saturday loo is one character in the book that i'm reading now, and one of Doc's friends "renny" who has super
large fists that can knock down doors with one blow

overall the film is amazing on LD, has a super clean image with light specks of dirt here in there, SUPER film grain on the image.
pictures are from my projector with an 80 inch screen.

this has been released on DVD but is a DVD on Demand or Burn on Demand and NOT a printed disc.
this is the only way to own a official factory pressed version of the film.

as always the most important on EVERY DISC....

Have no fear
The man of Bronze is here...

Fun movie and for much of its length surprisingly true to the source material - got a bit silly towards the end, but in general it's a good conversion of the first Doc Savage book.

Hadn't realised it's on laserdisc - there is apparently also a German DVD (dubbed German and English) but of course it'll be Region 2, and appears to be VERY rare, judging by the ridiculous prices asked for it.

It's a shame they never made the sequel, and vague rumours of a remake seem to have fizzled out.

i have mixed feelings for the film over the years, i used to really like it, then didn't care too much, but now like it again.
it sort of reminds me of buckaroo banzai in the way that they were supposed to release a sequel that ended up as big trouble in little china.
