Cop and a Half (1993) [41624]

Movie Content: This movie has to be one of the low points of Burt Reynolds' career. The plot is somewhat interesting, but the rest of the movie is just amazingly stupid. This is one of the movies that is so bad that it's good, in my opinion. However, this movie is quite entertaining for young kids, and I feel that young kids would really enjoy it.

Video Quality: The film is presented in 1.85:1 Widescreen on this Laserdisc release. The quality of the transfer on this is pretty good. The colors are very vibrant, and there is not very much "rainbow banding" present. The main slight problem is that sometimes it is quite sharpened, but other times it looks a bit on the grainy side.

Overall: 4.4 out of 5

Audio Quality: The film soundtrack is presented in a standard Dolby Surround soundtrack on both Digital and Analog tracks (The Analog track is encoded with CX Noise Reduction.) It sounds quite good, but does not fill the room too well.

Overall: 3.5 out of 5

Jacket Design: I do not care much for the jacket on this release. It would have been much better if the giant border around the movie poster was removed (This goes for all of MCA/Universal's Widescreen releases.)
