Broken Arrow (1996) [0896385]

I love John Woo.

Well...Woo in Hong Kong that is.

This film is dull, rather lifeless and insists that you turn your brain off for its duration. it seems the writer of SPEED wanted to make a film that was even more on autopilot. There are brief moments of life from the two leads, but the movie is really just a time passer.

The THX transfer is quite good with nice color. When looking back on my better player I could spot more of the EE and some noise here and there but all in all not bad.
Audio is good, somewhat punchy and loud in the action scenes but really just isn't that impressive.

Video: 3 out of 4
Audio: ac3 3 out of 4, matrix PCM: same

... and didn't get to have Joss Whedon come around to doctor the script (and then screw over on the script credit)

I actually really like "Hard Target," which was John Woo's first US made film. Not as artistic as "The Killer," or "Hard Boiled," but pretty cool nonetheless. I saw it on a whim on its theatrical release, then bought the LD when it came out. Come to think of it, I need to break it out and watch it! It's been a few too many years!
