Hang 'Em High (1968) [ML101399]

Transfer is very solid with good color and detail with only a few soft shots. Appears to be open matte like the first DVD. The PCM mono is very clear with only a touch of distortion in the higher end.

The film was Eastwood's return to American Westerns after the Dollars trilogy and there are a few moments where it appears they tried to emulate that harsher style. Ultimately the film reeks of TV and while not bad is not particularly anything special. Surprisingly there is an excellent cast featuring everyone from Ben Johnson to Bruce Dern to Dennis Hopper.
