Jurassic Park (1993) [PLFFB 32531]
This review will be for the French release of "Jurassic Park" (1993) [PLFFB 32531]. I would doubt there is anyone on the planet who has not already seen this title so I will dispense with any review of the film itself and just concentrate on the quality of the laserdisc.
A rather beautiful transfer has been given to this disc as far as color is concerned. The colors are vibrant and nothing looks washed-out or over-saturated. The picture remains sharp and well detailed. The biggest issue with this release is the aliasing on certain scenes, although noticeable, but not really too irritating. But still a blockbuster film of this magnitude should have none at all! The sound is striking in that the bass is strong and the entire soundtrack sounds remarkable. No problems understanding any of the French dialogue on this release as it right up front and in your face. No rot or speckles anywhere to be seen, nor smearing or color bleed either. Except for the aliasing an excellent reference quality transfer.
The packaging is a slick glossy standard sleeve with excellent artwork. Inside the jacket is a six page booklet in the 12" size giving much information regarding dinosaurs used in the film, as well as other info on actors, director, ect., ect.. The large booklet is in neon yellow and a quite nice addition to this release!
