Star Wars: La guerre des étoiles (1977) [113035]

This review of the French PAL version of "Star Wars" is for those interested in French laserdiscs. Let's start by saying the picture and sound are nothing fantastic when compared to the later special edition releases that were to come. But what does set this release apart is that the opening crawl uses orange lettering instead of the usual yellow color. The other two movies that are from the same series use the standard yellow text crawl.

Although not stellar in any way, this title is necessary to complete the unaltered Star Wars trilogy before the Special Edition releases. There is also no rot on my copy as this title has a probability of that. It is widescreen with digital stereo only...no dolby. And like the other two French unaltered movies from this series, it too is pressed on a gold colored disc.

Nice to see a review again.

Interesting about the orange crawl, is there a way to post a picture and are you sure the colors are correct on the disc just different colors for the lettering?
Very cool if that's a different color that they changed.

“Very cool” seems like a gross overstatement.

Btw, how did they apparently strip the surround? Isn’t every Star Wars release in Dolby Surround?

LOL yes it is but at least he's not mentioning the releasing of this version in a VCD box set of 10 discs :shifty:
