I’ve said this too many times, but I really really really REALLY recommend the movie versions. They are just absolutely better in every way I can think of.

Hi, no disrespect but I found the movie versions very choppy.and eventually unwatchable. I have just now completed the TV series in full and I'm so glad I did. The payoff at the end is one of the most emotional endings I've seen, and I've seen Gunbuster, Macross, L-Gaim and Zambot-3. Althrough I actually hated most of the characters, except Kai, who's arc is heartbreaking, I am now fully ready to.properly take on Zeta Gundam, I never felt that after the movies and therrfore have never progressed past ep 9 of Zeta. I saw the brilliance of 0080/0083 in the 90s and desperately wish to.connect them to the source material. Tasuke, I believe you have chosen the right path with the.original tv series. No matter how many goofy mobile armors and dumb/repititious combat scenes there are, there's always Jaburo and Abawaqu, and yes you do get average Balls, GMs and Zakus kicking some a** at times in these engagements, don't lose faith. I feel like every Salamis in this show was the inspiration for every star cruiser I would draw in my elementary school notebook in 1986, yet Gundam wasn't on tv.. I also feel like there is so.much nuance and so many layers to the OG, I will rewatch soon. The whole Zabi family relationship, I didn't fully grasp.

I also watched it last month, but as part of a double feature in conjunction with the 1983 feature. Despite them being based on the same novel and starts with a similar plot, they evolve entirely different. In the anime she primarily time travels for personal benefit and comfort, which she quickly abuses. The live action film shows the time traveling in a much more subtle way and she never completely understands what is going on. And she never uses her powers for selfish reasons neither. Watching one right after the other gave me entirely new aspects of both films and was overall a great experience. It's easy to overlook the 1983 film due to its limited availability in the west but it is certainly worth a watch.

nyanpasu wrote: Watching some Marmalade Boy at the moment. Got the full LD set: three boxes, each with seven discs and a lovely booklet containing information on the characters, episodes, and messages from the staff. It's a great show - soft colours, loose clothing, good music...very relaxing. A great one for springtime, though we've still got snow here. If you enjoy that one, you may also wanna check out "Kodomo no Omocha", or "Kodocha" for short, which is more or less you could say Marmalade Boy on massive steroids. Enjoyed both shows a lot. Good memories. Kodocha also has two nice LD Box sets.

I don't know anything about Marmalade Boy, but I definitely second the Kodocha recommendation. Only caveat is that its humor can be pretty hyperactive, which isn't everyone's speed.

Been searching for a good quality LD of Cosmo Police Justy (1985) [K78L-1004]Paid a little of a premium for my costs but ever since I saw a pic of this disc I've been wanting to own a copy and was sort of scared about the fool who posted the rot report. Happy to say it has no rot and its a fun anime, almost a shorter OVA of Locke the Superman but with a police rather than Locke would have been, soldier for hire? Anyway fun anime but other than this I haven't had time or care to watch many or any LDs or DVDs, been streaming, its just easier and reminds me of the days when you could just put something on and let it run.

picked up DOUBLE ZETA, CHAR's COUNTERATTACK, and the F-91 film since finishing ZETA back up there. I Just Cannot seem to Take a Hint, Can I?!?also the UNICORN NT film. generally speaking, it sucked. UNICORN OVAs are MUCH, MUCH better, YMMV.also, -evidently rather contrary to general fan-opinion- F-91 actually had WAY superior animation quality to the Almighty, venerated COUNTERATTACK.in fact, Visually, it was often rather reminiscent of THE VENUS WARS, even... Finally, -believe it or not- i actually relatively ENJOYED the universally-maligned DOUBLE ZETA... for the most part, at least. goes to show you just how much of a complete freakshow i truly am, i suppose...
