I have found this rare japanese book in my garage, looks like a LD catalog....first 30 pages are tiny black/white pictures of Lds and the rest is hundreds of pure japanese letter trash  if LDDB or anybody wants this s**t i can send it through my ebay or something.....

I would certainly like to have this. It would give me a great opportunity to practice my Japanese reading skills!

Man, you really *hate* this book!

1981-1997 is pretty awesome. That's the majority of everything. I hope whoever ends up with this makes it public.

not that I am complaining since Samsami is one of my favorites but why are the pictures of Tenchi Muyo! and not more of other shows?

I believe this was actually an annual for a while. And there was a lot of Tenchi-related activity in 1997.

yeah, i was BIG into TENCHI MUYO in the late 90's/early 2000's. these days i'm quite sick to death of it,
but i'll always have a special place for old 2001 TOYNAMI brand Princess Ayeka 11in. character doll
i gad gotten back then during the height of my TENCHI madness.

i mean, she single-handedly inspired me to get into collecting Anime character dolls,
and learn how to sew, so i could make custom fashions for them.

it all started with a desire to address my dissatisfaction with her cheaply-made cheap stock clothing,
and as i got gradually more skilled, the possibilities only broadened dramatically...

Totally forgot I had these in a drawer somewhere:

And also THIS (below) that has HTML/JPG for contents, not a proprietary database. Now that LDDb is reasonably complete, I will try to write a few scripts to extract what's missing here but available on this CD. They have 200x200 cover files but if we still don't have any cover on LDDb for these titles after 10 years, maybe it's the only way to get anything decent now. I don't think Pioneer LDC would mind.

I opened the image on my macbook air with yosimite and have a slight problem it could just be that I'm using safari so I don't know. It is not in a language that actually exists its all that symbol stuff yet the read me file was correctly shown in Japanese. so am I missing a plug in or something?

I do have quite a few discs with no current cover on LDDb which I can photograph. The last time I bought a printer, I got one with an 8.5*14 inch scanner so that I could take two scans of a cover & stitch them together, but it turns out to have a raised edge, so the results are not ideal (semi-visible seam down the center). Let me send you a sample so you can judge for yourself.

Your character encoding is set wrong. It's probably one of the Japanese standards, rather than UTF-8, at that age. Unfortunately I don't know where the menu for that is in Safari.

You need to change it to (encoding) Japanese "auto-detect" or manually set "Japanese (Shift_JIS)".
These were the days of Windows 3.11/Windows 95 were UTF-8 and UTF-16 were not yet standards :-)

Ran a few automated scripts and found 2,159 references that I can use with 99% of them with a price and a release date, most of them with an English title and some 2,000+ covers (200x200). Testing on the first 100 references (ASLA-1027 to NJEL-11534), I found 3 titles that were not in the database and 42 missing covers.

Expect some great improvement on Pioneer LDC Japanese releases details in the coming weeks :-P

Hi Julien

first of all many thanks for sharing the ISO file

have you ever seen this CD-ROM, looks to me also very interesting.
It is also from Stingray-JP.

If you not already have done it, look in the directory ZEN on the CD-ROM of the Pioneer LD CD-ROM

Regards,
Edwin

Hadn't seen this, thanks!

http://web.archive.org/web/19980120113853/http://stingray-jp.com/cinema/index.htm

It's a movie database though, not a LD database. I think IMDb took over since that time :-)

Also have a French LD Database made with Macromedia that requires Win3.x/Win95/Win98 to work with more than 16 colors.
I had a fun/hard time to get Virtualbox to boot an Win95 OSR2 w/ custom video driver and let me run the original .EXE!
