Watched Howl's Moving Castle the other day.

I actually used to have this on DVD and it amazed me by how just little I actually remembered of it.

I had the 4 Disc Japanese Set I gave that to a friend. I have the Gkids Blu. Howl's is not a film I would rebuy it's not that good, in fact i would say I was thoroughly disappointed on a rewatch. Superb and beautiful animation, great score. Fun characters, but the plot is a puff of smoke there is nothing there. Or its way too simple. I actually think Cat Returns is better but too short.

I've been told that people who read the novel or are fans of it were even more upset. I mean I really enjoy it for what it is but it's not on the level of Mononoke. But for petes sake it's not as bad as Earwig.

And Earthsea a flawed but interesting movie, again I never read Le Guin.

Still have to see Boy and the Heron, before you jump my throat, I also haven't seen Suzume. Belle was super disappointing. I'm meaning to do a 4K watch of Akira and Paprika. I did see Studio Ponoc Mary and the Witch's Flower. They say imitation is the most sincere form of flattery.

Finally finished Babel II and boy was that rough.

For some reason the big bad "dies" like halfway in and Babel/Koichi moves to some literal farm with some random family and we basically never see his original family again after that, and I swear he barely ever uses his psychic powers anymore after that as well, it feels like a crappier UFO Robo Grendizer with the whole farm and cowboy angle and with so much emphasis on the robots over Babel's psychic powers (even though it came before Grendizer so I don't know what the deal here is). The worst part is that he promised his original family that he'd return once he'd defeated Yomi, and instead he goes to the farm again! What an a*****e!

At least there's still the 90s OVA to look forward to.

Been watching Hoshi Neko Fullhouse again, what a cool anime with some crazy dialog, I don't know enough Japanese to get any of it but have been watching
the LD and watching some subs online.
Crazy OVA.

Funny that you’re catching up with this 1987 series. I’ve started to watch season 1 a few weeks ago. Better than I remembered it.

I watched a bit of Gall Force Rhea or Rhea Gall Force as it is known in the US.

Super dated master on the laserdisc. I wish this and the entire series would get a new scan from the negatives if they exist and released on blu-ray.

Maybe there could be two versions of Rhea, a 4:3 animated and a 16:9 like what was done for the remaster of A-ko.
