Is there any difference between both Ghost in the Shell releases that Manga did for the US?

I have both and haven't noticed anything though I remember reading that one had a different closing than the other one.
I suppose I'm wondering what the hell is the bono version? I also have both regular and special edition dvds and bds

Well, LDMA-529-3 is CAV, LDMA-571-3 is CLV. That seems to be the only difference that I know of.

I don't know about "BONO", but the English dub of "Ghost in the Shell" had the amazing evocative end-credits music replaced by some bizarre Brian Eno electronica. Just one more reason to listen in Japanese.

I've always found it annoying the scene in the garbage truck early on in the movie . they completely change all the dialogue. this is kinda making me want to rewatch it now:)

I hate the opening for 2.0. it doesn't flow well, the music is different and its too clean as opposed to the rest of the movie since the opening was done recently so it doesn't match.

i think the it was bono who did the music for the end credits on the US release???? or that's what i've read.

i only have the Japanes box since at the time it was cheap, now seems to be higher priced.

I've owned both CLV and CAV US releases of GITS from Manga Ent, and . . . they're pretty much crap. I think they used the same transfer as the VHS release as the colors are washed out and it's rather blurry.

When compared side-by-side with the DVD release back in the 90s (oft considered one of the first best anime DVD releases in the US as it is an anamorphic transfer) it REALLY looked like crap.

That being said, the ending theme is called "One Minute Warning" and it is by Passengers which is supposedly a psuedonym for U2 and producer Brian Eno. I have the Passengers: Original Soundtracks CD which has "One Minute Warning." Pretty good stuff.

I'm very sorry for bringing up an old topic, but I really need to say that highly disagree. I just watched the CLV release a few hours ago (It's the 1st time I've seen the film, too.), and while it definitely is below-average for a late 1996 release, I think it still looks way better than VHS. The main problems are that it is a bit blurry in some parts, and a few dark scenes have a bit of a weird green halo around the Letter-boxing borders. Parts with tons of colors on screen look great and pretty sharp, and the colors overall do look pretty good.

i have the VHS USA of manga video and it is pretty good for a VHS tape, is a well edited product, they even mixed the two black bars of the widescreen above the screen in order subtitles not to ruin the full frame; desaturated colors are also really good and natural on the vhs...; keeping in mind that it is a vhs i would say it is
a really good looking edition on a Trinitron tube
