With all the BGC fans on this board, I'm surprised noboby has posted this.
Animeigo's Kickstarter for the BGC Ultimate Edition Blu-Ray. Looks like they're getting back into anime :)

that's really nice to know. they seem almost at their price goal too.

all considered, i'd imagine the resultant BRD sets will be hella spendy
like all modern BRD Anime collection set releases in the U.S. these days.

long gone are the bargain days of the early-2000's U.S. DVD Anime boom;
now we must endure something similar to traditional Japanese price structure,
which really separates the men from the boys, fandom-wise, like never before.

granted, the vast majority of modern Anime fans simply do not bother
with quaint physical media when they can stream to their hearts content
with services such as CRUNCHYROLL/HULU/ETC. but still...

alas, i won't be able to participate my support in this, much as i'd like to.
i've irons in the fire enough already i can only just afford, until at least mid-2014,
so i'll have to remain satisfied with my BGC LD set for now...

This isn't that much different from what they did with the KOR LD release.

BGC is my all time fave Anime!!! When I recenlty played my DVD, i was sad that one of the discs won't play. Instead of replacing it, now I can just get the BR version!

Sure, I'll buy this show again.

I just hope the package isn't terrible. Animeigo is a great company that I have supported for over 20 years but...man their packaging sucks. The art always looks overly saturated and second (third, forth, whatever) generation. Remember the old BBC DVDs with the wretched prismatic stickers on the box? The LD sets that fell apart?

terrible? I had the worst packaging. My 3-disc set came in a cardboard box like computer software. For YEARS my set was in a generic cover that I just wrote the name on the side of so it could be with the rest of the DVDs. A few years ago I discovered that online that people scan and post covers, so i printed the covers out, and finally they have a respectable DVD case.

Their packaging is getting better (I think). I was very pleased with the Yawara! box set, the latest DVD release I've purchased from them. With the fans dictating the release of BGC, the packaging should be pretty good... or it could be a design-by-committee failure. :crazy:

I went for just the basic $50 pledge. I'm fine with anything so long as they leave the video free of noise reduction and other "enhancements."
