Quick question: Was Macross Plus International Version vol. 4 released? It's not in the DB, but 1-3 are.

It was actually released but after the snapshot database I retrieved with the Japanese titles -- hence missing initially.

The first 3 were released in 1995 but the 4th one was released in 2000, probably to wrap up the series before the LD production stopped:

Macross Plus: International Version vol.4 [BEAL-786]

Sorry, was a typo.

Fan forums mention this is very, very hard to find.

Cool, thanks. A friend is visiting LA and agreed to hit up the Japanese laserdisc shop there with my wishlist. If vol 4 is there, I'll make it a priority :D

It's a Japanese gift shop called Bun-kado discussed here. I need to get out there myself while they still have LDs, but I have no reason to go to LA otherwise.

i have these two, lucky enough to get them in a large Anime LD lot off my local CL, with a CLD-S104 included even, all for $80;

http://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/11429/BEL ... %281995%29

http://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/16122/BEL ... us:-voloe4

also, almost every FHE ROBOTECH LD volume, just missing like 2 or 3.

i keep those around for sentimentality; even though i am more of a Japanese MACROSS purist these days,
i WAS, like so many other western Anime fans, introduced TO Anime in general in the mid-90's by ROBOTECH
via the VHS versions of these FHE/LIVE HOME VIDEO releases...

The FHE Robotech LD are what got my collection rolling. I picked up the first 9 for $30 and thought "now, I have the start of a collection. Better keep going."

I'm a Macross Plus purist in that I don't like the movie version :D The director cut some of the best fight scenes!

meanwhile replacing the OVA's original, rather rushed, even anticlimactic final battle sequence with something vastly more dramatic and completely satisfying.

i'll agree, there was some pretty awesome stuff cut from the MOVIE ver. but all the same i tend to find it the vastly superior edition overall...

in any case; here's to you, Dyson...

My friends and I are such dorks that we did a Macross Plus skit at a convention 5 years ago (not going to show you pics of me because my part was so inconsequential cosplaying Marv):

It was a fun
