Can somebody please confirm to me that the disc actually has English closed captions that are based on the original Japanese audio track and not the English dub? I am considering buying this set, someday. Thanks!

someone else said that this does have CC.
I own the box and when I tried on my CRT I didn't get any CC, so i'll check again in a few days to see what I get on my LED set now.

I watched the CC's couple years ago.
And they were not "dubtitles" but real subtitles.

OK just checked it, it has full closed captions with no issues on my LED television.
and another thing that's pretty cool, when I zoom on the image I don't lose them

I believe they are the same as the LD-G, when I had the player with LD-G I would watch this in Japanese and have the English graphics.

I went over almost every ld-g title and this is the only one in english. I would think about buying an ld-s9 or r7g if there were more japanese titles with english subs

agree, not many that I would be interested in, I just checked and I only own 4 discs with LD-G and 3 of them are in English
I also feel the same with AC-3 or DTS, I own NO DTS discs and only 11 with AC-3.

so for me these are moot points in collecting LDs and I have over 400 discs

You forgot about this one:
Memories (1995) [BEAL-926]

Which btw is also MUCH better than the hyped Gits (IMHO).

This box is a must have, however. Blows my DVD out of the water.

Tenchi Muyo in Love: The Movie (1996) [PILA-1393] has English CCs, no LD+G. It's not the greatest movie, but it's a really good LD.

Indeed, looking for "Japanese+LD+Anime+CC" finds the Tenchi Muyo movie.

I guess Tenchi Muyo!: TV Series 06 [PILA-1326] is a mistake.

Trying "Japanese+LD+Anime+CC+LD-G" finds both Ghost in the Shell: Premium Box (1995) [BEAL-921] and Memories (1995) [BEAL-926].

Again, Shojo Kakumei Utena (la fillette révolutionaire Utena): L'apocalypse vol.07: Limited Edition [KILA 9347] looks like a mistake.

I bought this box set. I don't have ld-g or cc capabilities. They also released the original gits in bluray last week. Redux 2.0 bd version had the original as extra but low bitrate. I dont know if the new release is any better. Its on bd25 so it cant be high bitrate. I think there was a Japanese bd release on bd50 but really expensive.

I like the us clv edition I only have flip it once:) I like the aspect ratio around 1.66:1.
