Started Aura Battler Dunbine. This is without a doubt just Isekai Gundam. It's good though. |

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time for the first time in several years, and it's somehow even better than I remembered it being. Decided to watch it because I watched Belle in the theater yesterday and didn't think it really worked, so I wanted to see if maybe I had just liked Hosoda's movies when I was a teen, to which the answer is a resounding no; his early stuff is still astounding. I know anything post-2000 is a hard sell for some of y'all, but this is really one that everyone should watch. It's a sweet, affective story elevated by some of the most human, tactile character animation ever drawn. |

I also watched it last month, but as part of a double feature in conjunction with the 1983 feature. Despite them being based on the same novel and starts with a similar plot, they evolve entirely different. In the anime she primarily time travels for personal benefit and comfort, which she quickly abuses. The live action film shows the time traveling in a much more subtle way and she never completely understands what is going on. And she never uses her powers for selfish reasons neither. Watching one right after the other gave me entirely new aspects of both films and was overall a great experience. It's easy to overlook the 1983 film due to its limited availability in the west but it is certainly worth a watch. |

Watching some Marmalade Boy at the moment. Got the full LD set: three boxes, each with seven discs and a lovely booklet containing information on the characters, episodes, and messages from the staff. It's a great show - soft colours, loose clothing, good music...very relaxing. A great one for springtime, though we've still got snow here. |

If you enjoy that one, you may also wanna check out "Kodomo no Omocha", or "Kodocha" for short, which is more or less you could say Marmalade Boy on massive steroids. Enjoyed both shows a lot. Good memories. Kodocha also has two nice LD Box sets. |

I don't know anything about Marmalade Boy, but I definitely second the Kodocha recommendation. Only caveat is that its humor can be pretty hyperactive, which isn't everyone's speed. |

I picked up Kodocha but haven't had time for it yet. It does look to be up my alley so I think I will enjoy it. It's the first half of the show. Not sure how many seasons or w/e it was officially. 51 episodes in that release. Recently finished Aura Battler Dunbine. Going through Season 2 of Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple and watching some Lupin here and there. I have City Hunter 3 and Lupin Mamo blu rays arriving tomorrow. Mamo is a weird one, but kind of peak Lupin at the same time and it has been awhile since I watched it. |

I remember when “Child’s Toy” first hit the fan sub scene. It was quite a hit. Most gaijin haven’t seen the end of the series, I certainly haven’t, but don’t let that dissuade anyone from watching the first couple dozen eps though. It’s very funny. The translation quality will matter…hopefully that’s solid. |

picked up ZETA recently, and just finished. i'm... REALLY getting the impression that Tomino's "storytelling" just simply isn't at all for me... |

Most of his shows are bloodbaths. Dunbine was no exception. |

Finished Kenichi. Typical friend collector shonen. Through the power of being nice and hard work you too can turn enemies into friends. Started on Saiyuki. Rough animation on this one. |

Nearing the end of Saiyuki. Started on Kekkaishi as well, has a decent formula to it. About 9 episodes in. Finally opened Dear Brother. Had it sitting sealed since the pre-order arrived. It's not that I was unsure about it, quite the contrary. I knew I needed the time to commit to it because it's something I can't background watch and will want to watch in bigger chunks. I had high expectations for it which it has so far met. |

Been searching for a good quality LD of Cosmo Police Justy (1985) [K78L-1004] Paid a little of a premium for my costs but ever since I saw a pic of this disc I've been wanting to own a copy and was sort of scared about the fool who posted the rot report. Happy to say it has no rot and its a fun anime, almost a shorter OVA of Locke the Superman but with a police rather than Locke would have been, soldier for hire? Anyway fun anime but other than this I haven't had time or care to watch many or any LDs or DVDs, been streaming, its just easier and reminds me of the days when you could just put something on and let it run. |
