I got these (b*****d LD vol 2 and 3) in today and they appear to be CLV, not CAV like the listings here state. CLV with 30 minute sides for some reason. Pause gets a blue screen and I can't use slomo either.

I don't have 1149 yet but I imagine it's the same.

That’s weird.

You can tell a CAV disc from a CLV disc just by looking at it. CAV’s have a “Pac Man” look as the wasted section gets longer and longer on the larger laps. CLVs are just one big spiral but with more texture than a CD.

Yep. Chinatown for example I noticed right away on the 2nd disc. In that case it says CLV on the disc but the database here is correct and has that as a +CAV release.

The discs mentioned in the OP have the CLV look as well.

Update: The first disc IS actually CAV, making this more curious.

Also, PILA-1171A is a US release but Pioneer used the Japanese sleeve and glued on a translated cardboard sheet. The rest of the volumes have a translated sleeve.

The new title for this thread makes it confusing so far. I remember it was about specific catalog numbers or something.

As for the CAV side being first, there are some movies like that but it’s pretty rare. The only good reason. I can think of to do it would be if you had a really interesting action scene earlier in the movie or if you were watching something with a single late cut in the movie being more than a half hour long. I don’t know what you do with The Russian Ark or The Rope.

Fantasia CAV has seemingly weird or excessive side breaks but you can’t break up the music pieces so that’s what happens. You get a nine minute side right in the middle of the movie.

Edited the OP for clarity.

I got an entire full set of Bast4rd because it was really cheap (cheaper than importing just volume 1 from Japan due to shipping) and volume 2/3 were, again CLV. Pretty odd.

30 minutes a side.

I can get detailed pictures of everything tonight if you'd like. :)

Does this set come in a slip box or are they just loose volumes?

Really enjoyed the concert LD Shizuka Kudo Rise Me '93.

Submitted a lot of info for it into the database and will get a cover picture when I figure out a way to do that well.
