Resurrecting an old thread. I've got the chance to pick one of these up locally. Based on tasuke's pictures and the pictures on www.laserdiscarchive.co.uk, it looks like there is no dedicated digital audio output, and that the digital audio is run through the onboard DAC. Is there anyway to add a digital audio output on to players that do not have it? I know AC-3 mods exist, and I'll probably do that. It would be great to have dedicated digital out for DTS discs.

I didn't know that about the 8" discs. I know that this player has a special floating magnet spindle. Is that for all 8" discs or just the 8" single? All but one of the 8" discs I have are 2 panes of plastic. One side clear, and the other white. One of my 8" discs is listed on LDDB as a 8" Single and is only a single pane of plastic (IE half as thick). Just the single, the double thick will be fine, I knew about this but stupidly put a single in anyway and it scratched the s**t out of it. I was lucky enough to buff it out and its fine but its that type of thing you just don't really think about.
