There are about 5 or so episodes so far.

The Exorcist
The Crow
The Twilight Zone
The Omen
Poltergeist

It is very interesting because there are interviews with the people who were there when things happened on set. Except John Landis.

I couldn't believe they showed the Vic Morrow accident. That one was horrendous. I didn't think they would show it.

Interesting stuff anyway. It is on Shudder.

Now this makes me even happier that I don't have an account with Shudder.
Thought this was sued and locked away forever, guess ultimate scum can find a way around anything.

Shudder is worth the price for Joe Bob Briggs honestly, Creepshow was also really good and I'm excited for a second season.

I'd also like to point out the footage of the crash has been on YouTube for well over 10 years now, it's definitely not locked up in any capacity. The show is also framed more as a documentary when it comes to both the Crow and Twilight Zone episodes (the earlier ones tried to talk about hauntings and crap), and it definitely paints everyone involved in the accident as a true monster.

Blimey. I wasn't expecting that level of vitriol!

It's actually an alright series imho. I don't think it's presented too much with a sensationalist spin on it. What I found most interesting about it was the interviews with the people that actually worked on the productions. The interviews with the staff who made The Crow, Poltergeist and The Twilight Zone was especially interesting given what happened during the making of those films.

I've seen all of the episodes bar The Exorcist one so far and the only one that really showed anything horrific was the Vic Morrow accident. As pokefraker correctly pointed out, that footage has been on YouTube for a long time. I don't think the show tried to paint the crew of each film as monsters. Though they did have a point with the way John Landis was represented. In my view he is a real piece of trash given how he behaved in the aftermath and also the choices he made during the shooting of the film.

The most sensational of the bunch I think was the episode about The Omen. I don't think they really had anything much to fill that episode with and a lot of the black magic stuff was just stupid (though may not be for folks who believe in the occult and so on, whatever floats your boat).

I think it's worth a watch. If anything because of the interviews with the crew. Lloyd Kaufman was especially good with his points about set and special effects health and safety. Hearing it from those who were actually there. That's what makes it worth it. Everyone knows the rest, it's public knowledge for decades.

I thought both the Omen episode and the Exorcist ones were pretty terrible and should be skipped. The other three (also keep in mind this is a 5 episode season), are worth watching- especially the Crow episode, as I found that one interesting as it also got into the mystery surrounding Bruce Lee's death. Also to agree with teddanson, Lloyd Kaufman's attitude was fantastic and only made me appreciate him even more. If anyone hasn't seen his "movie", Blood Sucking Freaks, it's such a crazy film and worth the watch. (also currently on Shudder).

Overall not the worst show, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is the only season we get.

I have a feeling the Exorcist episode is going to be much like The Omen episode. A lot of speculation and tabloid sensationalism surrounded both those films. Reports of curses, people getting sick in cinemas and walking out. Sure things like that still happen today. Remember the frenzy around Crash? Or what about The Passion Of The Christ? OK so they are not horror films but as is mentioned in one of the episodes, when you compartmentalize this stuff in to:

  • Horror films with a curse/accident/sensationalist rep
  • Non-horror films with a curse/accident/sensationalist rep
  • Horror films without a curse/accident/sensationalist rep
  • General films

It kind of brings about a question/answer of the whole curse nonsense being exactly that, pure nonsense. Things happen, life happens. Choices are made. Mistakes are made. The real problem is the media and the frenzy that gets whipped up around something (not just films). That's where the problem lies. Gutter press and gullible public.

[Reveal] Spoiler: Alert:
Half the episode is some crazy guy performing a "Real" Exorcism, 100% unrelated to the curse surrounding the film.

No Shudder in Australia for whatever reason, blame their parent company AMC.

Of course a VPN would always work, but not everyone has one.

Too much trouble.

Oh I have "A" TV, just haven't had any form of TV reception hooked up for a decade prolly.

I torrent the occasional show but I only have 15GB a month and that has to cover p0rn : (

Are you using your mobile phone for internet? I haven't seen a data cap that small for like 20 years.
My crappy ADSL connection is only a pitiful 1.5Mbps but it's unlimited data.

I've been putting off upgrading for many years as plenty of higher speed plans using wireless technology were much higher cost per month, plus unlimited data for such plans wasn't as common. That has changed a little more recently though (for the unlimited data part anyway). For me unlimited data is far more important, one less thing to worry about for bills.

Should be upgrading to 50Mbps in the next couple of weeks though, unlimited data.

Yeah it's still not a great speed by world standards (especially the likes of Singapore and some ex-Soviet bloc countries) but over here there aren't any really good speeds. Unlike places like Canada (decent enough comparison due to population and distances, plus they're commonwealth), we never laid down fibre decades ago because our politicians are retarded.

yep. 4G phone tethered to my laptop. One of the ways I cut corners to afford stuff like laserdiscs and rent.

I also don't want to go down the rabit hole of youtube and the internet in general. Keep it to email, lddb, occassional torrent of a TV show, p0rn and online shopping. The rest of the time I want to live in the real world. No social media, no streaming.
