Hello!

I shipped a tested MSC-4000 recently (HLD-X0 => MSC-4000 => R2144 => display) to someone who is using it with the Extron DSC-301 HD on a LG display and he's getting vertical wavy lines on his display.

Anyone here is using an Extron with a MSC-4000 by any chance?

Update after more tests: without the Extron, directly to a SONY PVM 14L5 the problem goes away.

Might be an issue with the EXTRON (firmware update needed?).

I don't own this unit but I doubt any moving image like that to see waves from a picture someone took, even if these are your pics.

Need static or some other types of pics, test pattern or even an anime with not much movement, closeup of a face while talking is always a good one.

But if its just in the center like that seems like its cables used or something simple rather than firmware from my guess.
Or wonder if caps are going bad on color board or some type of board inside??

Probably not terribly helpful, but I didn't have anything like that with my DSC-301 HD paired with Marantz LV520 (Pio D504/604 clone), neither motion or static.

In that specific case, we're looking at RGB -> HDMI (from the MUSE decoder), not composite/video (from a LD Player).

In the end it WAS a firmware issue:

Quote:
I upgraded my firmware from 1.02 to 1.26 (the latest) in the Extron box now and it actually helped -- no more bands!

As suggested in this thread:

https://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=63680&start=60

Quote:
– Beginning in firmware v1.04, analog RGBHV input
detection has been updated to replace legacy rate 1280x960@60Hz with the
increasingly popular 1600x900@60Hz. If a RGBHV 1280x960@60Hz input signal is
in use, it can be manually adjusted for proper sampling and saved in auto memory.
Both rates are still automatically detected via DVI/HDMI.

They did modify the analog RGB detection/sampling.

The VGA input is compatible with YPbPr component video if you get an adapter. Not sure if it will accept MUSE 1135i over component but might be worth a shot. Could you add that to the page. Firmware 1.28 was released in September 2022, no change log available at this time.

You can easily post an update, it's precisely designed for this :-)

Where can I get the plug for the 12v and serial ports? (I've got plenty of 12V power adapters I can use/slice up, but I don't know what to get.)

I wonder if a firmware update would help with my DVS304A as well. Where do I find those?

Hi,

Late reply, but regarding the two latest posts:

I don't remember where I ordered the 12v plug from, but I got a bunch so I could send you a couple if you need them (assuming power for the Extron boxes).

I couldn't find anything on the Extron web site but mailed them and actually got the required files to upgrade the DSC301. (I started by applying for a login account, which I kind of understood I would not get since I'm not affiliated with Extron in any way, but what's to lose? I think any way to bypass the regular customer support is probably good:) )
