Hi everyone - first post here. I recently picked up a Pioneer DVL-919 from someone locally, as well as a Sony SDP-E800 for AC-3 decoding. I have an LG OLED that unfortunately does not have any analog inputs. My home theater receiver is a Denon AVR-X3500H. While it has some analog inputs, I feel like the picture I'm getting is not as good as it can be. I'm realistic, and don't expect 4K images out of a LaserDisc, but with the exception of buying a CRT TV, which I can't due to space, I'm looking for other ways to get the most out of my setup.

I've gone down the rabbit hole of looking at scalers, and have considered everything from old Kramers (VP-773AMP), DVDO products (VP20/VP50/iScan HD/iScan Ultra), Extron (DSC 301HD), and even the RetroTINK 5X Pro. However, I have zero clue which one is going to make the most impact and leave me feeling like I'm getting most I possibly can out of my player and existing setup.

Can anyone help make any recommendations? I've read a lot of posts here and it seems folks have multiple pieces of equipment in their chains, so I'd love to learn more about what might work best in my particular situation. Many thanks in advance for the help!

I have a retrotink for my older gaming systems havnt tried with my R7G.
Not sure what LG TV you have but just start by getting the video on it.
I know Sony and strangely Philips does a great job presenting LD .

Thanks so much for the reply. I have an LG CX, which DID have an analog input. Unfortunately, the board died and was replaced under warranty. However, the repair guy had a newer board with him, and offered to install that right there and then or have me wait and order one of the older boards with no timeline as to when it would be received/replaced. I wanted my TV back up and running, so I had him install the new board, but was obviously surprised to see I no longer had the analog input when I went to hook up my DVL-919.

I'm thinking of picking up a VP50 based on what's available to me at the moment.

I have a DVL-919E and an LG C8 with no analogue input. For years I used my Onkyo AV receiver to get the picture to my TV and it did a decent enough job. Last year I got my hands on a Kramer VP-773AMP for a bargain and saw a pretty big leap up in quality.

Obviously I'm in Europe so a lot of the equipment will be a bit different despite the brands matching...but the Kramer gets my vote if you can find one for a good price.

For my CLD-97, I have a DVDO running into a Krammer VP-773A and it gives better motion blur compared to just the one or the other. At least on my set it does anyways, results may very.

I've been happily running an Extron DSC-301 and a CYP 4K22 for about a year now. Bear in mind that one of the Onkyo amps might do an equally good (or better!) job as a single unit vs the two bits of kit that I am using.

The Extron is cheap - so worth picking up. Very versatile to use in terms of settings/picture display options etc.

Since having a LG B5 OLED I can no longer connect the LD player directly to the TV, so I let the Pioneer SC LX77 do the A/D conversion and upscaling. The picture quality looks decent to me but I'm sure a separate scaler would provide some substantial improvement.
