Hey all, I'll try to be brief.

PS on Crystalio died. I've read 3 or 4 threads here on repairing/replacing it, one of which someone suggested that a regular PC PSU would work and another user concurred.

However, a user here says he measured the voltages coming off of the stock PSU, and they were NOT standard to a PC PSU by any means. A normal PC PSU has several rails measuring 12v, 5v, and 3.3v (or something similar). The Crystalio PSU measured: Blue (Gnd), Black x2 (12V), Red x2 (17V), Yellow (24V).

I know you can combine the -12v rail with a positive rail to get more voltages (though the -12v rail is probably less than 1 amp, which may not be enough to power the Crystalio). Was that the implication, if I decide to try a PC PSU??

On another thread (which I cannot find now) a user again suggested using a PC power supply, but also added something like "The voltage doesn't matter, the Crystalio uses very little power anyway."

Can you just use the 12v rails off of a PC PSU to power the unit?

Thanx all.

Red is +5v Yellow is +12v Black is 0v and Blue is -12v

Whoever measured them before had no idea how to use a voltmeter.

The Crystalio II uses a TON of current, the supply Pixel Magic used is insufficient.

A standard pc supply will work you'll just need to jump the "turn-on" lead to get the supply turned on.

Well, I stand corrected. I took out the PS again to measure and you are correct. I'm not sure how I was measuring it before but using the chassis as ground and probing the molex connector pins I get the same values you listed. I'll update my original post to reflect these correct values.

Thank you for your input.
