I currently own an LG 4K OLED television with a Pioneer CLD- D701. The quality looks pretty decent on it, but something that I've been curious about is, what kind of television does mostly everyone here use for their LD player?

My LD setup is a wide HD CRT, Sony XBR960. I have other Bravia setups around the house, one from around 2009 and a 4K one from 2017. I stick with Sony, I’ve had bad luck with the Korean stuff.

I utilize a SCEPTRE 42" HD flat screen.

This tv has been in operational status since 2014.
I play command and conquer PC games, xbox, and historically viewed blu ray, dvd, laserdisc, and VHS media on it.
Very pleased ....

Preparing to upgrade to 4K evolution after my new house is built. Hopefully spring of 2023 if all goes as planned.

Also own a Phillips 720 P 32" flat screen strictly for gaming purposes.
For the last few years my Sega DreamCast was hooked up to it.....

Cheers to the membership !

Recently updated the telly to an LG C1 65" OLED. A nice bonus is it has the new C2 Evo panel. You can check this yourself by either checking the serial number on the back of the panel, or accessing the service menu. Almost got the 77" version but the dimensions were slightly too much for where it would be situated so the 65" was the more sensible choice. A small side note, as this is my first OLED television. I'm a total convert now. I can't go back to LED/LCD etc. Even the LG plasma I had about 12 years ago can't hold a candle to OLED in my opinion. The black levels should be absolutely tremendous with the R7G and DEXT enabled I hope!

For LD I have a CLD-D925 (complete and boxed, dated September 1997) and was fully serviced a couple of years ago. My main squeeze is the CLD-R7G, aka the Barry White of Laserdisc players. I run that via a DVDO VP50 Pro. I also use a DVDO Edge for my Sony VCR capture setup.

My previous telly I used a Dr HDMI to resolve EDID issues and audio problems via the DVDO devices. I haven't hooked up the system to the OLED yet as I'm awaiting a new soundbar system.

I've been reading on some of the threads that a plasma display shows a better presentation for LD compared to an led or possibly an lcd. Can anyone confirm this?

I own a Panasonic TX-42PX60U plasma display made in Nov. 2006, and yes, the display works almost like a modern CRT, at least when hooked up to a CLD-R7G through S-video. The display itself cannot display every color NTSC can display, for example the attack scene from Stagecoach (1939) [35078] has magenta-ish colors on the display in spite of it being black-and-white whereas the Mitsubishi CRT I also have displayed it with no problems, but it perhaps is my preferred way to watch a digitally-mastered LD; the colors are warmer and are more in-line with the D65 color temp standard than the CRT in S-video.

However, I noticed when playing older analog-mastered discs, like Badlands (1973) [11135 LV] and surprisingly Abyss, The (1989) [1561-85], the color is better on the CRT. Too green for my tastes on the plasma. It really depends on the mastering of each title.

not quite a Television, but image can be as large as 150"

3 Tube CRT Projector running 1080P at 72 (NTSC) or 75 Hz (PAL) and 4:3!!

https://duckduckgo.com/?q=marquee+9500+LC+ultra&t=ffsb&iax=images&ia=images

if lucky, they can be had for a very low price.

I use a Samsung Smart TV, which suits my needs. The picture is clear, and it's been reliable for both watching shows and playing games. It's cool because it connects to the internet quickly and has apps built into it, which is super handy for streaming stuff.

I've been using IPTV kopen to watch shows and movies. It costs 15 euros a month, but they gave subscriptions, and I paid 99 euros for a whole year. With this, I can access over 7,000 channels and many movies in excellent quality, like HD and 4K. Plus, I can watch it anywhere, which is great when I'm out, and it works on different things, like my TV and phone.

CLD-2950 -> Marantz 6014 -> LG OLED 77CX9LA

Pretty decent picture even with the large screen if set up correctly.
However I would love to watch on an old WS Bravia HD CRT like zeta, but lack the space (dedicated room) for yet another stupid hobby.

Cheers,
Markus

I've got a 50" Panasonic VIERA.

Can't (really) complain with full-frame LDs (via composite). :)

Upgraded to a 55" LG HD generic model.
Exceptional picture and half way decent sound. ( I bypass and go through jvc stereo receiver and old school jvc speakers for maximum analog goodness for LaserDisc and DVD viewing and listening. )
Analog FOREVER

Still utilizing the sceptre for windows XP pc gaming.
Have a 32" Phillips 1080p for sega dreamcast and sega genesis purposes as well.

Dumped my last CRT years ago and never looked back.
My wife has an old 27" Trinitron so curious........ some old tech dies harder than others....

Cheers to the membership....

My main display is a Sony XR-77A80J 77-inch OLED set. Laser discs, even a letterboxed one zoomed in to fill the screen, look quite good on the Sony.

But I still have my Sony XBR Pro (PVM-2530) 25-inch monitor from the 1990s, that was an excellent screen for watching laser discs. And, several restored early TV sets such as RCA CTC-16, CTC-4, 8TS30, Motorola VT-71, RCA CT-100 and many others waiting for restoration.

Hi. I have an HDMI network and 3 of the TV's are Sony's listed below. A fourth one, in my Florida room is an old low milage 720P Insignia that was given to me. That's going to be replaced with another Sony so I can use it in my Radio Shack for TV DXing. It has a Great tuner...
