Granted, I'm using a CLD-R7G outputting S-video, so on my end I'm going to be a bit biased, but I am floored about how a simple deinterlacer intended for 240p and 480i game consoles works wonders with LaserDisc.

Currently I'm watching George Stevens's The Greatest Story Ever Told on the R7G and although there are some flaws that comes with upscaling composite video I don't think LD ever looked better. The detail is adequate enough and if I tweak the projector picture settings it looks unreal, almost DVD-like. The last time I watched it was on a measly SD print from Amazon Video. Now I have to rewatch all of my LaserDiscs, again.

Pleased that you are having great result, what TV are you using?
What Comb filter settings are you using on the R7?
I have a RetroTink2x but only use for retro video gaming

The model number of the Optoma projector escapes me as I got it from my uncle who wasn't sure about the model number. I also have a Mitsubishi Megaview CRT monitor which the R7G is simultaneously connected to via S-video, but I find the color temperature on the Megaview to be too cold for feature films. Also, no comb filter settings on the R7G.

Today I'm watching the infamous Jackie Brown DTS LaserDisc which I previously talked about on this forum. This time I set the projector settings to 4:3 since the film is in 1.85:1. Seeing the clothing pattern on Samuel L. Jackson in chapter 4 makes me want to play with the comb filter settings as there are unwanted rainbows, but I think the blacks are incredible in chapter 5 as opposed to how they looked on the plasma.

I added a new ingredient to the video chain, the Xbox One S, so now the chain goes S-video from the R7, to the Retrotink to the Xbox, outputting 1080p. By misfortune I cannot zoom in the picture when the Xbox is outputting the LD image, so I tried the consoles magnifier feature. The most mild zoom cuts out the vertical sides of the infamous "blue box" of THX Broadway, so that is out of the question.

Why am I doing this? Because of course a GPU of a video game console would be a far better upscaler than whatever dated chip is in the projector. Also I noticed how there were unwanted patterns in dark areas when the Retrotink was connected directly to the projector, and the Xbox mitigates that, only appearing in deep blues and greens.

You have alot of boxes from your R7 to your display!
You claimed you disabled the comb filter on the R7?
We would live to see any shots of the picture your receiving is possible.

Yeah. That’s a lot of stuff chained together.

When you say the LD imagine looks great because it’s almost as good as DVD flags go up. When you say the R7G has no comb filter settings more flags go up. I’m glad you like your setup but I have a feeling it would really bug some of us more uptight fellas.

I made an Imgur gallery of my setup. Two images for each side from The Age of Innocence. Note that after the first image I turned on D-EXT because on this setup it works for me.

I have no way of accessing the comb filter settings on my R7G since it didn't come with the remote. I misspoke. I meant to say Graphics Mode is turned off.

That was the one thing that I had to have when I searched out an R7G, you must have that remote to do any of the adjustments.
Try to find one or see if you can get codes or something for people to make a remote.

You will turn your player from a 5 into an 8 in a matter of seconds.

I have used a device to capture the codes in case the remote fails before the player if helpful
