This thought literally just popped into my head so excuse me if its a stupid one but....

I bought one of these cheap EGA to VGA converters to use my amiga on the LCD monitor in the man cave. While I enjoy using the projector for most things its a bit awkward when your sat not 2 feet back from the screen trying to play a game. Anyway it actually does a pretty decent job of converting the image and its surprising just how good and colorful of an image the old mig can produce. In particular I was blown away at the quality of the image from the my CD32. ANYWAY...

I was thinking if you took the RGB and C-sync from the scart socket on the LD player and run them through the gonbes would it work and would it give any better of a picture. I think I'll buy a £1 scart lead and give it a go later.

It won't look good, but only you can prove this for sure. :)

Didn't work.

The Gonbes doesn't detect the signal from the scart, well either that or I wired it up wrong.

No harm in trying though.

Well, it only accepts RGB, doesn't it? And IIRC the SCART on %99.9 of all LD players only carries composite.

Regardless, these are cheap boards that are amazing for the money but produce all sorts of problems deinterlacing even video games. I can't imagine LD video would look anything other than terrible.

You know that would explain why there was little to no reading from the pins on the scart.

Brilliant we board for retro computers / consoles though.
