I just received my first VP50 from ebay, pre-owned,non refurbished, but guaranteed and tested.

I can't test the output yet as I'm waiting for a 5BNC to 5BNC cable to arrive and I don't have any HDMI capable display.

However when I power on the unit the EL display on the unit lights up but displays no text or information.

Is this normal? When I connect up the external display and add inputs should it start to display info?

Also NB this unit was sold without the remote.

Thanks.

Okay I just looked closely at the crappy PSU I was using, outputting 6V DC but only does 500mA max, needs 7A according to the manual..

Okay closest I could find on ebay with the right plug is 6V/5A, says it's compatible with VP50. Ordered that, now we play the waiting game again:

Worth a try. Worst case is that it is still not enough and the unit refuses to power on yet again. I generally always use a 3rd party power supply that has the same, or higher, ampere rating. Have experienced in the past that a lower one caused voltage drop since it couldn't deliver enough power, which caused weird symptoms. Didn't work properly, in other words.

So the 6v 5a PSU from ebay finally arrived a week late. Works fine. VP50 powers up and works beautifully. Only seems to want to output XVGA over analogue HD out to my Sony Wega widescreen CRT.

Now to fully optimise all the fine tuning options for each source..phew..
