The comb filter is excellent, the moving orb and 300 / 400 boxes are very similar to the Lumagen. That said I don' think it does quite as good of a job overall as the Lumagen but I think that would be asking a bit much anyway. I did talk to someone else who also gets the same AR issues but was not able to correct with a DVDO (it must not accept this resolution) so not sure this model is going to be very useful to anyone. I do have the model with s-video out coming this week to see if that solves the AR issues.

I’m guessing the ideal would be to have the s-video output a combed 480i and then let a more advanced modern processor do the ADC to get decent de-interlacing and upscaling. I’ll be interested to see how the comb filter handles motion/scene changes. A good orb test can mean you get the dreaded checkerboarding. I love cranking a 3D comb to get a super sharp picture but hate the motion artefacts it can produce. This is why the lumagen is so good as it gives the best of both. Really weird resolution being output from the DVI on this unit. Hopefully I’ll have something that can read it. This thing doesn't have artifacting.

Nobody on earth has any use for an s-video signal that is weird and unlike the matching display the s-video isn’t meant for something that is borderline proprietary. I’m honestly sort of hoping the s-video is messed up exactly like the DVI. That would mean these things could be fixed. I’d imagine it’s probably standard though and works fine.

pbiancardi wrote: The 900 is outputting correct AR combed 480i over S-Video with an amazing picture. Issue with this one is no front panel controls so I can't get into the menu (nothing I program my Harmony with works). Looks good! There doesn't appear to be an Infrared Receiver on the unit. Looks like the IR is on the TV and feeds control back via the black Display Interface cable. Does it look like any processing is added to the S-video out or is it a straight through-put? Apart from being combed of course.

I would say the S-Video isn't processed but the DVI is with almost absolute certainty just based on what my eyes tell me, its a nice clean S-Video signal that a good video processor can do a lot with.
