I contacted the Europe Sales Specialist at Sinpro directly last week and got some information back with regards their SPU45E-103 made for the DVDO VP50 Pro. Bottom line is they ceased production of that particular PSU. They can produce batches of 10pcs and 50pcs of their entrie PSU range though and have made an updated SPU45E-103. The problem is it looks like the connector is totally different to that required by the DVDO VP50 Pro? One other thing, which took me back a bit. The bloke at Sinpro said due to safety certificates and standards even if they could make the old SPU45E-103 they wouldn't be allowed to import it to Europe for safety reasons. Anyone know of another PSU that would work and is safe?

I could get it forwarded from Taiwan no bother, the problem is the new design of the old PSU has a different DIN connector on it so won't fit the DVDO. I wouldn't be keen to buy an old one either given yer man was up front about safety standards regarding them (probably hence the redesign?). Mine works fine, it just has a loud audible whine sound when it's been on for a few minutes. I'd be concerned about fire risks etc even though it's connected to a smart plug and Smartthings controlled by a Harmony activity. Those eBay ones for 7p I'd trust even less. Probably not a kitemark in sight!

Sorry, I was obviously only using half a brain when I typed previously Now I'm with you and see your problem, I'm definitely of the same mind too when it comes to fire risks from using dodgy bits of substandard kit. Suppose if there isn't a sound alternative power supply available then other than finding a decent original used one your VP50 is eBay bound? Just had a quick look at DVDO website and they have a universal power supply available for $79 exc. shipping. It specifically mentions VP30/50 etc.

Anyone know of another PSU that would work and is safe? The Astrodyne TDI is the direct replacement. It has the correct DC plug for the DVDO, not DIN....I doubt you'll find another OEM that makes this one due to the strange voltage/amperage.

I contacted Astrodyne TDI who quoted me a 10-12 week lead time (I assume more with COVID 19 restrictions etc) and $65.08 plus FedEx Ground shipping to my USA forwarding address (too expensive to ship direct to Ireland with all that lovely extra Heartbreak Tax). Thanks for the info. If anyone else needs one it can be purchased online here: https://www.astrodynetdi.com/ecatalog/p ... /SPU45-103
