Why are you planning to buy a display and player and video processor separately...based around a $6k deck, and you’re too cheap to buy the best processor? For any processor to be worth using at all on a decent new TV it has to be extremely good. This isn’t 2008. |

Then any processor will do. Spending $400 on an antiquated electronic is more expensive than something current for $4,000 but that’s my opinion. |

As for the question, if the projector is as old as the LD player you don’t need a processor. Back then everything matched. You only need a processor if you are line doubling or digitizing or HDMI-ing it all. By 9” do you mean it has 9” guns? I watched a lot of LD on Sony 6” projectors in the 90s. The image was small and dark but with proper setup quality is very good. The friggn tubes got to be pretty hard to find though and $$$ so that era sort of ended around 2000. Also the thing is rather loud...nowadays you can get a image nearly as big and WAY higher quality from a $2000 TV and it will weigh less than the screen I used to have to set up to project the image onto. It will be quieter and drain half the power. |

If I use the player in my main theater, then I can pay more. Don't really know why one need 4000$ VP for a CRT projector playing LD and VHS. |

It will be quieter and drain half the power. Well, I need it for for the display (probably 960P @ 72 hz). The retrogaming will do nice with 240P, with big scanlines. No new TV in my retroroom. Only CRT there for vhs, betamax, video 2000 and laserdisc. But maybe I will put the LD player in my main system, then I need a really good VP. |
