has anyone successfully used learning remotes for all the Pioneer IR codes needed
to operate a player?

more often than really wanted, you don't get the needed remote controls
for used players.

and if you have a really special one that needs some keys for accessing menus
that other 'lesser' players don't have, you are really in some problems.

I remember that there were web sites with all the codes needed to programm
a lerning remote (like the Harmony)

Does anyone here have some experience in doing that?

I have used learning and programmable remote controls since the original Pioneer CU-AV100 in about 1990. After that control, I had a couple of the Philips Pronto controls, and I programmed all of my Pioneer control buttons into those.

The Web site Remote Central seems to still have its Pronto files section, and that was a great resource for me in the past. But of course, you would need to have a Pronto of your own to use the files.

In more recent years, the Logitech Harmony controls have been very convenient, but finding an exact version of the control and buttons you need may be difficult there.

I am sure you know that for example, most Pioneer laser disc player remote controls work with most other Pioneer players, other than the specific buttons sometimes needed as you mentioned. One player I bought (CLD-D604) had a couple of specific karaoke buttons, so I hunted down its exact original remote control just to have it match. That is probably the best plan for any player that you want to use to its full potential.

Thanks for the info.

I remember having a cheap china made remote control with just 4 buttons that were
all learnable. pointed the original remote , pushed the button I wanted to have the
code transfered and voila.

I do have all the remotes needed for my players but have a friend looking to access
the special 3D Comb filter menu on his player
