I decided to test this out based on a lot of positive feedback people seem to be giving this and other retro gaming devices for Laserdisc. As you can see the results are less than stellar and pretty much as expected (though the scanlines are at least a cool novelty that hides most of the issues). These are direct captures not camera and are zoomed in to "pixel peep" to highlight the differences. The color differences are because captures are taken before picture hits the calibrated display (and I didnt really spend much time calibrating the RetroTink). The RetroTink is set to its motion adaptive deinterlacing mode.

The 5X-Pro is way too expensive for those results.
In fairness it is not designed for Laserdisc or video at all. I was just curious based on people saying it was good for LD so figured I would take a look.
