What's generally considered the best DVDO for LD playback? I'm wondering if they'll do a better job upscaling and zooming than my Marantz AVR or Sharp TV.

Duo/Edge both have the Analog Devices comb filter that's the best there is.

Speaking from experience the Duo does everything you need so far as cropping/zooming the image, pretty sure the Edge is the same. The deinterlacing is good too.

Whether the scaling itself is any better (or worse) than your amp or TV is hard to even guess at without more information. Some find the scaling on the DVDO's too "aggressive" for LD, though I found winding back the edge enhancement helped a lot with that

Thanks for the input!

I'm seeing an MM701 Duo. Do you know if the MM601 has the same video processing circuitry? Based on the price differential, I'm assuming it doesn't.

The MM601 is fairly cheap, and I'd be willing to take a chance just to see if does better than my existing equipment unless it's already known that's it's not a good unit.

That's the iScan right? Not familiar with it but it's pretty old now. It won't have that comb filter though!

Coincidentally was discussed here just the other day What are you using to upscale your LD Player on New 4K TV's
