| Post subject: | [LD-600] Spindle motor replacement... |
Have a Pioneer ld-600, one of the earlier flip-top players, that I need to replace the spindle motor on, which I'm getting from another "parts" machine that suffered shipping damage. However, it looks like the spindle shaft disc plate where the LD sits on that small center disc, and locks in place once the lid is shut, will be blocking removal of the case top, which needs to lift off to gain access to the internals. I suspect it comes off somehow so the case top can lift off, but there is no visible way to see how to do this. This may be a question only an older LD fan or technician can answer, but here goes: How does the spindle plate/disc come loose so that it will no longer block lifting the case off? Is ther a hidden locking screw somewhere or what? Is there some sort of tricky catch here? Anyone know? |

With a very fine tipped screwdriver or knife blade you remove the ring (it's "snapped" into place). Once removed you remove the screws that hold the disc table in place. With the disc table removed there should be one more screw that holds the case to the chassis. Good luck |

Thanks, I suspected something like that when I saw that black ring, but had to be sure. Too many times I guessed at something only to cause a problem or break something. |

Just be careful removing it. It has three tabs that lock it into the metal ring. The BAD thing is if you have to remove the magnet (in the center). That can be a total pain the rump |
