Do Pioneer japan still stock spare parts for S9 ? Tried to find anything without any success. Do anyone have a list of the spare parts numbers? To be such a good and quite common player there seem to be very little information about it. |

I think most of the parts of the CLD-99 is compatible with it, though probably not the laser (since the S9 doesn't play CDs). |

Yes the CLD-99 is the closest. Yes the pickup will work, so it depends on what you need. The are differences. |

What about the CLD-HF9G? I don't know much about it other than it's supposed to be a CLD-99 with LD-G function. |

Got it. Im mostly surprised by the lack of information about the ld-s9 that was a popular model. But anyway. I will get one in a couple of months, lets see if its better then R7G. I like that its made only for LD. |

I am curious. Why anyone would consider cld-99, ld-s9 or even hld-x9 if composite output was to be used? Wouldn't you benefit more from a low noise player like cld-97? I kind of understand x9 because it doesn't smear(benefit over 97) and can play muse but others make little sense on composite. From what i heard the mitsubishi comb filter in s9 and x9 cause heavy artifacts. Don't get me wrong i am only curious of your opinion. Now that these players are half priced comparing to 2 years ago, i am interested in a x9 or r7g. |

From what I've heard the X9 actually has less luma noise on the composite outup than S-video (even though it's recombined) and supposed to be even less than CLD-97, at least on paper. The 97 has less chroma noise all around from what I know. And yes, the Mitsubishi comb filter is a fiasko (judging from the captures I've seen) but if you turn off the 3D comb filter you get rid of the artifacts. I'm very interested in getting an HLD-X9 as it seems to be a more durable player than the CLD-97 and will most likely satisfy my needs. |

When I was working in Japan 4 years ago it was almost to late to order some spare parts, today I guess it is even harder. Regarding the HLD-X9 composite output it is not recombined, it uses a separate D/A converter in parallell with the comb filter. I do not know why people is talking about a Mitsubishi comb filter, the only info I ever found is pointing to Matsushita? http://www.mmic.net.cn/stock/search.htm ... XMK&page=1 //Birdie |

Wait, does the X9 have a comb filter by Panasonic? Never heard of that. |

I've always heard it to be a Mitsubishi filter. The page most referenced for this proof is this one (archived since it is currently no longer up): Mitsubishi developed its IC and named Super Digital Y/C Separation. |
