| Post subject: | [LD-43000D] "Newbie" help! looping issue. |
Hello all, first post, please be gentle! I've recently acquired my first LaserDisc player (blame Techmoan!) and it's a Pioneer LD-43000D, an "industrial model", which I wasn't aware of at the time. The thing is built like a tank. It would probably survive being run over by one too. Knowing more now, I'd have gone for a "domestic" model that plays CD-sized media too, but anyway, hey ho. So far, I've tested four discs out on it, and two of these are showing the same issue, in that the programme starts to loop just as it's approaching the end of a side. (I have Blackadder The Third, and it does it as the credits are rolling, so they never actually complete.) The discs look clean, and so far, it's only these two of the four I have. The other two are fine. Anyone know what the issue may be? I have 0% technical knowledge, and have never opened anything up in my life, so wouldn't have a clue what to do, or understand even the simplest circuit diagram. I also have heart issues, so aside from worrying I'd short my pacemaker out, I don't have the health to lift it far either. The machine was bought fully refurbished, so I'm guessing nothing's worn out so to speak. Anyone able to help? I did read the lubrication may have gone on the rollers, but as I say, it's been completely refurbished, so I'm not sure about that. Thanks all! |

Sounds like something is off like the focus or tilt or something like that. I would do some searching, they do talk about stuff here on the forum but since you have the pacemaker I can't say if you should or shouldn't mess inside. Do it at your own risk. |

First of all, hi and welcome! To me this sounds like some sort of a misalignment that may have occured during refurbishment or been caused by the refurbishment. Do you have other discs to try, beyond those four? It could be an isolated issue with certain discs. If you have zero technical knowledge, I wouldn't put my hands on it, apart from taking the top off to see what was going on inside during the loop. From the health perspective, I wouldn't advice you to do this by yourself. As with a laserdisc player and any other electrical equipment, it always represents a risk to get harmed by electrical charges, etc. Good luck! |

I own about seven discs in total now, I've played four of them, and it's happening on two of them, one both sides (not tried the other side of the second one that was doing it.) Ta, all. |

Have the person that refurbished it properly adjust the focus and tracking servos, that is most likely your problem |

Not the easiest of things to get halfway across the country! It was eBay, too. I'll see what the other side of that second disc does. |

Well, it sounds like you will need to return this somehow or ask the seller to guide you through. |
