Post subject:  Pioneer CLD-1750 Power Transformer (VTT-1062)
Good morning all. I am looking for a power transformer (VTT1062) for a Pioneer CLD-1750/CLD-1600/CLD-600.

Or, the complete power supply circuit board - VWR-1093

Or, if there is a CLD-1750/1600/600 out there with a good power supply I would be interested.

I had a dead transformer due to the thermal fuse being blown inside of it. I jumped it and it came back to life. Have you tried checking this?

Hi there C++ :-) the transformer is "kind of working".

The Spindle motor and the main motherboard are powered off +14V and a -14V rails derived from 2 transformer windings in series. The problem is that the smaller winding has become high resistance and has dropped some of it's output voltage (also the AC waveform is mal formed) and therefore the bridge rectifier is only rectifying a little over half of the power required by the spindle motor and electronics.... So when the disc spins up the display dims dramatically and the player refuses to play a 30cm LD and ejects it.... 8" Music CD Video's and regular audio CD's play fine because they are drawing much less power by the spindle motor..

Sorry for the wordy explanation... Basically Transformer is working but on it's way out... (Schematic is attached).

Need a NOS power TX to fix really.... I may have to build a MOD for a close compatible power TX (worse case scenario).

Before I realized the thermal fuse was blown in my unit, I had actually reached out to a few places for quotes on rebuilding the transformer because I didn't think I would be able to find a parts CLD-91/92 unit for much cheaper. With the CLD-1750, you might have an easier time getting a donor unit, although I'm not sure what the situation is like in the UK. I have a few expensive players sitting in purgatory waiting for parts, so sometimes it is just a waiting game but worth it in the end.

I did some on line research about having Power TXs rebuilt so I have a few emails out there asking for quotes etc.... Let's see..

Yeah I found a few shops that specialized in rebuilding transformers for guitar amplifiers. This might be crazy expensive, but at least getting a quote is free. I was going to try to rebuild mine myself, but I lacked the tools. It was a huge laminated core transformer that was welded together.

I actually found out the issue. The player is only getting half of the power it should because one of the transformer joints is cracked! As a result the bridge rectifier is only rectifying half of the AC!. No transformer needed! Discs spin up without dimming the entire display and discs are not rejected because of speed spin up issues. :clap:
