Post subject: | [LD-660] Playback Issues |
I have a LD-660 that keeps jumping frames on CAV discs and doesn't like to play any disc at first (I have to seek into the disc a minute or so). Are there any common adjustments that need to be made on these HeNE players? I have the service manual for the LD-1100 which should be good enough, but I wanted to post here before jumping in. I did check the pinion gear to make sure it is intact. |

Oh wow, those gas laser players are pretty much Duncan's area and he's been DOA for years. Keep us posted on how it goes, I had a 7820 once and luckily it was only the cable/belt that popped off and it worked fine. Wonder if its some type of centering issue?? I know that 7820 moved the motor and laser stayed in place, is the 660 the same? |

The spindle is fixed and the unit reads from left to right unlike the diode players that read front to back. The symptoms are similar to a centering issue, but the occasional looping has me considering focus but there are several adjustments that I have never heard of. Surprisingly good picture considering this player uses a gas laser and is over 35 years old. Going to try my best since there has to be someone out there that would enjoy this if I can get it playing nicely. |

Yes, those gas lasers give an amazing image, or at least my 7820 did but I've never had another gas player again, no space. |
