I got what I thought was a decent deal on a ld-s1. it arrived and has an inconsistent faulty drive or something is not reliable enough to play discs. So I bought a cld-3030 to replace it. Just arrived won't eject and probably won't play. How hard is it to repair the motors yourself? Need help very badly.

This is a shame as these are nice single sided players.

Can you post what the issues may be??
My LDS1 I believe is slipping on startup and won't play some discs, was told the rubber may need a cleaning as that could help.

But do any repairs at your own risk.

It is very unlikely to be a motor issue. i.e. CLD-3030 slider motor holder can crack completely off in shipping. General rule of thumb is don't ship players.

The seller claims he will take back the 3030 so I'm sending it back. The LD-S1 has an almost identical issue to this [LD-S1] Troubleshooting updated with videos!. Only sometimes it seems like it can play through a whole side but seems to stop function after that until I reset it a couple times.

Yep. Buy in person if you can, this also allows you to test the player yourself before buying.

Does anyone know any thing specific that can go wrong in shipping for a 3070 or 3080? I live in Minnesota so it pretty barren up here, I'd like to give it one more try before I stop banging my head against the wall.

I don't know what could go wrong with a 3070 in shipping but if it really works and is packed well you should be fine.

Trouble is a lot of resellers are just testing with CD or not even testing at all and just trying their luck.

I run a 3070 and love it, there are newer easier to fix player but again not too many parts left.
If you didn't pay much for that 3030 and plan on getting another 3030 or 3070 you may think about keeping for spare parts????

C++ Has more knowledge about repairs and is on the forum, kurtis is sometimes on here, not as much as in the past but I know one
or both should have some players to sell?????

Kurtis is the guru!

From my experience:
CLD-3070 built better than CLD-3080, CLD-3080 has better PQ. CLD-3070 harder to work on. I've seen the CLD-3080 gear that is used to move the pickup crack in half in shipping. CLD-3070 has transit screw that is always missing, but I have not seen any issues arise from that. I just like having the transit screws + correct remote.

yeah there was a post in the past about the transit screw not being a deal on the 3070, it may have even been Kurtis who posted it.
Was a long time ago.

Never knew about the gear is that something new that's happening to them since they are even older players now???

I just picked up a broken CLD-3070 for $25 about two weeks ago that appears it may have the gummed up mechanism issue. Was planning on tearing it open soon to verify and fix it.

But yeah... definitely this baby is built really well and I would think it stands a chance to survive a trip in the mail. Regardless, it would still be better to just pick it up. I had to drive about 90 min to pick up mine.
