Of course, now the picture on the player keeps blacking out. It's always something, right? Currently searching for repair options. Is your player connected to your TV? I've only ever had the black out from connection to a computer.

Lasers do die sometimes but maybe %2 of all LD repairs have anything to do with laser replacement. It's running on a Westinghouse flat screen. I don't currently have a CRT. The first two weeks I had the player, it didn't perform badly like this and played everything perfectly. It's been wonky with the picture going black intermittently since a couple days ago. I'm relieved that it's less likely to be the laser. Thank you for your feedback, signofzeta!
