I feel like I was quite lucky to get my disk out. Is she dead?

I'm an electronics engineer but no expert in repairing LD players. That said, it appears that the player has entered into some sort of service mode.

Let's see if others can chime in.

Depends on what you did to the player.
How or why did you get it into test mode?

Unless I stumbled into test mode. I didnt do anything. It hasnt been powered up in ages (easily a decade). I went to test a disc I was selling and it did this. If its booting into test, how do I get it out?

Oh boy, wonder if something got inside from storage??
I'm not a tech nor do I know how to get it in or out of test mode, there are posts here on how to do that with this player.

Was it playing fine before being put into storage???

The extent of what I would do right now is take the top off and look inside to see if you find anything that may be shorting to get you
into that test mode.

A decade in storage can break a lot of things.

I'd leave it plugged in overnight powered on and then in the morning unplug and then plug it back in immediately and power it on and see if it still comes up on test mode. Most likely the signal that is normally shorted to force the unit into test mode is being held down. powering off the unit is supposed to reset the unit back into play mode.
