Hey, so I recently bought a V101 at a yard sale and while I was testing it, I had the machine paused for a few seconds and the disc just stopped spinning and the player refused to recognize a disc in there afterwards. The pickup tries to focus and I can see IR light being emitted when I use my phone, but otherwise it doesn't so much as even try to spin the disc. I've put in all kinds of discs, but no such luck.
Any ideas? I've tried turning the pots a little bit but I've gotten nothing from it.

Don't turn the pots (at least for now).

I would first do a simple cleaning of the laser lense w/ a little water and swab. Dust build up can cause odd issues.

If that doesn't work, the second thing to check are the belts. There are two on a V101 (sled belt and loading belt).

You should simply replace the loading belt first (PEB-1013) as that belt not only moves the tray but is responsible for clamping. If the belt is even a little bit loose, it will not torque up the disc properly and the player will refuse to spin (maybe you got lucky the first time when it did spin up).

The sled belt (VEB1077) only moves the laser pick-up assembly and you can judge for yourself after replacing the loading belt if this might need replacing as well (no movement means new belt needed).

Lastly, the V101 is actually a re-badged CLD-V720 so that is why it's hard to find material on it. Pioneer was trying to help their Karaoke division by providing a budget industrial looking Karaoke machine for customers that didn't want to spend heaps of cash on their really industrial stuff.

Got it. I did mark the original spots with metallic markers so I could reset them to a "home" position.
As for belts... yeah, that makes the most sense. Of course, that's doubtlessly something I'm going to have to do as these both came from a smoking home; I did at least use a microfiber cloth to clean the eye somewhat. I mostly wanted to power test them to make sure it all worked and that the guy selling them was right, but these definitely need some decent TLC. Between this and the V510, the V101 has trouble even pushing the tray out of the door that flips down (I have to pull the door down to help it eject,) so that's likely the issue. Probably should replace the belts on the 510 when I have a chance as well since I got them as a pair.

Yeah, that makes sense. At the very least there's a service manual for the PAL model, the V202.
