I just bought an HF9G as well as an HF7G on auctions.yahoo.co.jp for a quite reasonable price. The HF7G opens and closes its tray automatically, so it might be U1 error. The HF9G skips when playing CD and does not play LD's. It could just be a dirty lens, I'm not sure.

I find these rather nice players. I got an HF7G in perfect condition about 15 years ago from Japan which still works without issues (other than the loading belt issue). It was the best player I could obtain by far, although recently I did get an R7G.

Anyway, I saw an eBay listing for a loading belt specifically for CLD-HF7G, but do different Pioneer LD players use different loading belts? And where can I get a good quality one cheap? I once replaced the loading belt in my HF7G. It fixed the issue for a few weeks, but started giving me the U1 error again.

edit: I don't have these two players yet, they will be shipped to me by surface mail probably, which can take 3 months.

Buy a SCQ3.6 belt. This is part number most commonly found from various belt manufacturers. Just search of SCQ3.6 belt
