Was troubleshooting Side B startup issues (for another time), and video board slipped into cavity on top of main board. Then this happened:

Is it not tripping a micro switch?
or?

Something probably shorted. The service position for that board is to hook it onto the clips on the side to keep it from slipping.

Keep everything unplugged and check IC803 inputs. Might be better to check continuity of pins that should not touch on main power supply connector first.

Yes, you need to measure the micro switches, they can be read at the lines that go from the mechanical assembly and plug into the mainboard. You can do resistance checks by manually pushing each switch and looking for resistance changes with the unit unplugged or actively monitoring the voltages as the laser moves forward.

I have also seen bad movement motor drive IC's on the mainboard cause issues like these.
