Hey all, I'm Logan, first time posting.

I got a Pioneer CLD-160K for free and I would like to get it running properly.

At first it would only say "No Disc" when inserted with either a LD or CD. Then I opened it up trying to see anything obvious wrong, played around with the clamp a bit which felt a bit stuck. Loaded a LD and it worked. Several other LD's worked as well. Decided to clean it before putting it together with some air on a can and gently brushing off dust and dirt. Then I tried it before assembly and now it only reads music CD's. So either I mucked up somehow or I just got lucky for a couple of discs.

Here's a video on it running:

I've read some advice and suggestions others have got for similar problems and I've tried:

Cleaning the spindle grip on the motor, belts, clamp.

I've replaced the belt to no avail.

Could it be the spindle motor perhaps?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks a lot!

What happens if you slightly loosen the four screws holding the clamp?

I've added another video with the laser acting a bit strange but it still reads a music cd.

Just seems mechanical to me. In the first video, the LD was mis-clamped and off center during one part. Ensure belt is no larger than 10cm, black plastic under the spindle grip is not cracked, the push-down hub with three prongs in the center is ok (don't try to remove it, as it can break easily), clamp is level, etc.

So the laser might not reach since it's not in proper height, aligned perhaps? I'll try and adjust some more and see if I can get better results. I've added a photo, don't mind the adhesive residue, but the blue material spatter I have not idea what that can be. It's really stuck there and hard to remove.

Thanks for your help.

Not sure what that is. If it is very thin, it could be remnants of a label from a disc that was left clamped for years.

Pickup says everything is good to go, but spindle can't reach playback speed possibly due to binding or excessive wobble.

Blue looks like some type of thread locker, I would clean that off, don't think its making the issue but should be clean.
Wonder if any of that blue when liquid got into the spindle???

Don't be taking too much apart and get that player working again.
