Ok…. I’m assuming you have never seen how an Alpha Turn mechanism works.
So to make this a bit simpler, watch this video starting at 2 min, 30 sec…..
What you will notice is that the orange cable travels with the laser pick-up during the side change turn so there’s no way it can get twisted. The only thing the orange cable will be doing is retracting and expanding with the back and forth movement of the laser pick-up.

Here is an image that was in my archive on how a CLD-2070 / CLD-3070's Alpha Turn looks like from a side angle. Notice how the orange cable is stretched out w/ the retracting mechanism keeping the cable taut. When the laser pick up moves to the back, it will literally fold neatly into the turn mechanism w/ the pick-up. Hope this helps a bit more.
