I thought I had the EAD done..no such luck…I will update when I get the recent issue fixed, but I need a break from it..thought working on the McIntosh would be a good distraction….
The question is simple..the unit has Zero Power..and I need to get the tray open…at first glance its not like the 99 and others that you can just spin the gears until the tray opens..Anyone?
Gotta be the dirtiest LD player ever..

Post subject:  Re: Elite 97/MLD7020 No Power ,how does the tray open?..UPDA

The solution to opening a cld97 tray without power….If the clamp was in its correct position, this wouldnt be necessary…
Take the front cover off…..gently pull the tray out as you turn the gears..if the clamp is closed (no power) first remove the metal strap that spans the open end of the tray and then remove the one screw (its a stop screw, goes thru tray) at the back left corner of the tray and out it comes..the Clamp was pushed past its normal position, so rotating the gears alone wasnt enough..needed to apply upward pressure(easy does it)as you turn the gears..it actually clicked past something initially…over clamped?…..now thats solved ,(why its over clamped no clue yet) ..its off to the power problem…board has power in and out…of course…it couldnt be simple…what fun would that be…more questions and updates to come…

This is also the way to access the belts (syncro)…pull the face and its easy…
