Just developed this issue with my player. When the player transitions from A->B, I hear the sled travel back, flip over, and travel forward. When it gets to the center of the disc, it doesn’t sound like it wants to stop, and sounds like it is trying to continue forward - I can hear the gears clicking as it can’t actually move any further. Eventually it will stop, and I’ll have to hit eject to get the sled to return to the bottom. Other than that, everything seems to be operating correctly. Does anyone have thoughts or suggestions on how to address this?

Thanks!

The microswitch on the side of the laser assembly is probably bad.

How would I go about checking that? Where is the micro switch located?

On the side of the laser assembly there is a white arm connected to a black housing, that is the switch.

Kurtis - I finally had time to work on this. I was able to take out the laser assembly and look at the switch - everything looked fine and properly connected. When I reassembled everything, the issue went away, though I'm sure it will return.

I've found the part in the service manual - Limit Switch OSH1001. When searching for this part, I only found one site that mentions it (instrumentalparts.com), but it is no longer available. Do you know of a place where I can buy this switch in the event I need to replace it?

A working used one from a parts machine is the only source I know of. Looks like Pioneer had the manufacturer make a special version of a push button switch that has the arm you see on this one. These can become intermittent like yours.

Did you have any luck with getting a parts unit?…If its the one I think it is ,I have 2 ,butt theyre attached to working ,spare laser assy….its also a solder job …Ive had some success in the past spraying contact cleaner into the switch ,then working it ,,rinse, repeat…they get carbon build up..some can be cracked open..I’ll post a pic and this with your post.
