Hello everyone I just purchased a pioneer CLD 79 unit. I powered on the unit and put a Laserdisc in and it just spits it right back out after a few spins. so I took the top off and put the disk back to kinda see what was going on. It takes the disk, and when it clamps it spins very slowly for like a few seconds, and then spits it back out with the error code U1. so next, I tried a CD same thing happened except the code U0 was shown. can anyone help me with this and point me in the right direction? Much appreciated.

Can be either the spindle motor or the laser. If you do not know how to work on these I'd return it.

Both U0 and U1 is not a good sign.

Player might have been badly handled or aging parts need replacement.
