I have had this player setting on my "to do" shelf for too long. Finally finding time to see what is wrong and how to fix it. It loads okay. push play and no play. The disc is spinning. I can get it to play when I activate the jog and shuttle knob. But it will not play after it is advanced any further after I stop jogging. Any thoughts on what the problem my be. Too nice of a player to not have working. Name here is Jim and I like watching laser discs and CEDs. I have two other working Laser Disc players and 3 working CED players, but I would like to get this one working. Thanks.

It's short for "Motor Holder", one example here: LaserParts VNL-1779 "M-holder" equivalent release!

The 702 is a different pickup design and does not have the problematic Mholder.
If you can scan out 5 or 10 minutes and get the proper picture then you either have a servo issue where then lens of the laser is not tracking properly or the electronics is stuck in pause/still mode.

I know the CD if not playing is an issue, if CDs play then its another issue, I think alignment, but I'm no tech and retain
a little of what I've read in the past of LD issues.
Hope you get it working.

Go into the pdf manuals section in oddball and look at the 702 service manual to see how to put it into service mode. On the top right is the code when a button is pressed, verify the code is “00” is believe for no button pressed and you see codes as you press each button. Then you would start with spindle centering in service mode.

See if it will track and play in service mode after play is pressed twice.
