Hello all! First time poster here. Long time member.

I was wondering if the Pioneer CU-CLD 069 laserdisc remote would possibly be compatible with the CU-CLD 039 remote? I can't find an 039 remote anywhere but I did find an inexpensive auction for the 069. The remotes are very similar. I just scored a Pioneer CLD-2090 at an estate sale to replace my older player, but it lacks a remote. Thanks in advance for the help!

It will work, Pioneer played around around with the Power,Stop,Open/Close buttons over the years but the others will operate it just fine.

The remote did, in fact, work! Thank you krbahr, for the good information!!!!

Of course, now the picture on the player keeps blacking out. It's always something, right? Currently searching for repair options.

Is your player connected to your TV?
I've only ever had the black out from connection to a computer.

Yes, rein-o, the player is connected to TV via RCA cables. The disc plays, but the screen goes black for long periods. The audio still plays. Not sure if it could be the laser going out, maybe a bad capacitor, or something else. I hope it's repairable.

Nah. It’s probably the TV. Is it a Walmart LCD kinda thing? Do you have a CRT to test it on?

Lasers do die sometimes but maybe %2 of all LD repairs have anything to do with laser replacement.

It's running on a Westinghouse flat screen. I don't currently have a CRT. The first two weeks I had the player, it didn't perform badly like this and played everything perfectly. It's been wonky with the picture going black intermittently since a couple days ago. I'm relieved that it's less likely to be the laser.

Thank you for your feedback, signofzeta!

Westinghouse eh? Yeah, try another TV. Store brand flat panels often have all kinds of issues with SD video. Hopefully that’s the issue.

Wonder if that composite video jack on the back is faulty from the TV, they don't focus on that as much anymore
since its all HDMI. Could be a few things, but as zeta said about the CRT, you should never have major lags of black image
on a CRT but could on these, I don't want to say off brand but can't think of another word right now.

Do you have something else to plug into that video in, like a DVD or VCR to see if you get the black image???

Yes, I just plugged my trusty Sharp VC-H942 VCR in via the RCA and the picture is perfect.

Thanks for the feedback and giving me things to try.
