I have a CLD-R7G that I use very infrequently. I just plugged it in today after not using it for a couple of years and am getting a "U-1" code when loading a disc. It seems to get past it if I try loading side B instead of the default side A, or if I try it multiple times. It seems to play fine once it does get past the loading phase. Any recommendations on what I should check? Might it be as simple as a belt replacement?

Here:

=> [IMPORTANT] List of Pioneer Error Codes

I would check the belts first, they might have aged and become loose/slippery.

Bad

That player has a good grip ring material, I would check if its dirty and making discs slip.

Thanks for the tips. The problem seemed to go away after playing a few discs, so I think it's probably dust or something that collected in there while it wasn't in use. I'll open it up and take a look around soon.

Yeah, just use some cleaner, no alcohol.
That player is pretty easy to open, I think its just 4 screws after the top is off and that pad should be white.
Its a material that should never need to be replaced, I had one and it was a great player.
