Hello all

I have just picked up the above player with a bunch of laserdiscs, the player was originally listed as working but then changed when the seller checked the player, apparently it would run up but would not recognise that there was a disc present. I have now received the player but unfortunately it has been battered by the carrier company and the drawer won't open.
I have taken the cover off and spent about an hour looking for something that could be preventing the drawer opening, it is solid and won't budge, the machine just makes a noise as if it is pushing against something that won't move
I have also tried to move the cogs by hand but they go so far and that's it, I suspect that I probably need to get to the underside of the tray to see what's happening
Any help/advise would be appreciated, it seems a shame to trash the player at this stage

The newer (if you call middle 90's newer) players will get mechanically out of sync during shipping if not powered down correctly, sometimes you have to force the tray out and replace what breaks.

hi,

On the left side beneath the drawer (front side) you can see the rubber belt that drives the drawer.
Try turning that by hand as it also moves the pick up mechanism up and or down. This way the drawer can be opened.
Be patient , it takes some time before you can see the mechanism moving!!
This happens when players are shipped. It' possible that the motorholder broke during shipping. this can cause the mechanism to freeze up when powered on...
a broken cam gear is another possible cause...
Not an expensive fix ...

try making some pictures to post...
May be of some help ....
